Handcrafted Beautiful Jewelry

Two halves of a serene face are hand-carved from bone, dangling from the ears in a pair of earrings by Made Wardika. Working with other Balinese artisans, he creates the earrings with intricate sterling silver designs, featuring two triangles of natural garnet.

“My designs are inspired by the rich cultures and art of Bali traditions.”

“My name is Made Wardika and I was born and raised in Tampaksiring, Bali. My family’s small house is surrounded by farm fields filled with the beautiful Bali scenery. “I am the second of three siblings and I started working when I was 11 years old to pay for school due to my family’s economic situation. While I was in junior high, I became a woodcarver and kept practicing that craft until I finished high school. After graduating, I painted and decorated carved wood pieces. Then I learned to carve horn, bone and wood.

Wardika comes from a village that specializes in bone carving, a traditional Balinese art that has been passed from generation to generation. When he was eighteen, he began to work as a bone carver and determined that he would become a master carver.
